If any of this sounds familiar

These three problems are the reason this library exists

“I spend an hour finding material before every lesson”

All 60+ are ready to go. Each one says what it drills, how long it takes and whether you need to run it. Pick one, open the link, teach. No slides.

“After I share my screen, I am the only one talking”

The games make the student tap, read and find out straight away whether they were right. You stop lecturing and start hosting. They stop listening and start doing.

“I cannot tell which sound they are actually stuck on”

Type a word into Ladder Phonics and it tells you which group it belongs to. Go back to that group and drill it, instead of starting over from the beginning.

How teachers use it

Three steps. No app, no account setup, no learning curve.

Pick a game and copy the link

Every card says what it drills, how long it runs and whether it needs you. No opening all of them to find out.

Share your screen and let them in

No signup, nothing to install. You tap, they watch and speak together, and it still feels like they are playing it themselves.

They find out immediately

The game gives the feedback, so you are not the marking machine. You host and explain why.

Do not write off phonics as a kindergarten thing. Ladder Phonics runs from s / a / t all the way to past tense -ed and splitting long words into syllables. I use it with primary, secondary and university students, and with adults in their thirties and forties. Most phonics material is built around nursery songs, which older students find childish, while the adult material tends to be dense pages of text that nobody absorbs. This fills the gap in between.

Try it in your next lesson

The first two Ladder Phonics groups are open right now, no email. Group 3 adds c / k / ck / e / h, which is where students can build cat · sat · hat · pin. That group unlocks with an email.
The two groups take about 15 minutes together, which is enough to tell whether it suits your students.

Common questions

What ages is this for?

Mostly primary, roughly ages 6 to 12, with some grammar and writing games reaching lower secondary. Every game states a suggested age. Ladder Phonics works from not knowing the letters at all, and I use it with adults too.

Can I use these in my own paid lessons?

Yes. The Teacher plan includes a commercial licence, so you can use the games in lessons you charge for, on any platform. What you cannot do is redistribute the files or resell access. The full terms are on the policy page.

Do my students need to install or sign up for anything?

No. Everything runs in the browser. You share your screen and they watch, or you send the link and they open it in Safari or Chrome. It works on iPad, iPhone, Android and desktop.

What happens if the connection drops mid-lesson?

Loading the page needs a connection, like any website. After that it does not. All the game logic and data sit in the page and it never calls a server again, so a wobbly connection or a school network blocking a CDN will not white-screen you. The only external request is Google Fonts, and if that fails the page falls back to a system font.

How much preparation does it take?

None. Each card in the library says what the game drills, how long it takes and whether it needs a teacher to run it. You pick one and open the link.

How is this different from Jolly Phonics or Letterland?

Ladder Phonics is not trying to replace a scheme. It is practice. Whichever scheme your student learns from, what they need is a large volume of decodable practice. The 35 groups follow synthetic phonics order, and the words in group N only use sounds taught in groups 1 to N, so the student can always decode rather than guess. Jolly Phonics and Letterland are trademarks of their respective companies and Ladder Lessons is not connected with them.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. The plan renews automatically, monthly or yearly. Open your Payhip receipt, tap Manage subscription and cancel. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Annual plans also carry a full refund within 14 days.

Why is it called Ladder Lessons?

Because each subject has a ladder in it rather than a pile of unrelated games. Ladder Phonics runs from s / a / t up to soft c and g, with each of the 35 groups using only sounds already taught. Ladder Vocabulary runs from A1 to B2. The student knows where they are standing and what comes next.
